Friday Free-For-All

My favorite local radio station here in Oklahoma City does what they call Friday Free-For-All where anyone can call in during the morning show and request a song. I never do, but I did steal the idea and am applying it to my blog today.

Yesterday I mentioned that I had nothing to say, and BritGal Sarah reminded me that I do have a new skin on my iPhone. I ordered it from GelaSkins. I had posted about it the other day and it came in two days ago. I'm loving it! I still carry my phone in a case on my waist but this protects it from scratches and stuff when I'm using it or lay it down somewhere. I also bought a clear screen protector for the front that is wonderful because I tend to get makeup on everything I touch to my face. Both the screen protector and GelaSkin back were very easy to put on and are repositionable. They come off cleanly with no residue. I showed you the website photos but here is my phone in "real life" with the GelaSkin protector on it. As I mentioned before, I chose Monet's painting of The Artist's Garden at Giverny. It comes with a free downloadable electronic wallpaper that matches the back.

And speaking of France, (because Monet and his garden are French) I had a great find in a thrift store this week. I'd stopped in to see what bikes they had (I've been debating getting a bike to ride to the post office rather than use gas in the car but have put that on hold since we have nowhere covered or protected to store it) and I happened to look at the books, as I always do. There on the shelf for 25¢ was a copy of A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle. I've been wanting to read this book for some time now and I knew it would be one I'd read more than once, being a Francophile and foodie as I am. I started reading it last night and already love it.
I have failed to mention that Sarah (formerly known as Hope), had her initiation ceremony for the Spanish Honor Society at school last week. They each received a certificate and lit a candle and said some sort of pledge thing about representing her country by being a friend to people from other nations, etc. I am really proud of Sarah! Here she is signing her name to the rolls, right before lighting her candle. I apologize for the bad quality of the photograph. We were in a school cafeteria with no natural light and my camera struggled to even take the photo.

Sarah and I are going this evening to her high school's performance of Les Misérables. It should be fun! Neither of us have ever seen the musical. This, in my opinion, is a good thing because when you are seeing a famous play done as a high school performance there is a tendency to compare these amateurs to well-seasoned actors.

Then tomorrow, Ashley's (formerly Joy here) junior high group from church is going to one of the downtown Oklahoma City homeless shelters to do a service project. I'm eager to hear her stories of the experience. We've always tried to keep our girls aware of those less fortunate than we are and we try to make a difference in this world.

Today, I have the day off from keywording photos for our business, but I still have a project to work on. Once I finish all that I'm able to do on that, before Brad takes over on the things I can't do, I think perhaps I'll treat myself to something like a coke from Sonic or maybe lunch out somewhere. Haven't decided yet, but that would be a nice treat.

This weekend I don't have anything particular planned. Since Ashley will be going on her service project, I think I'll stay home and give Gideon, seen here, a bath and haircut. He's starting to look a bit shaggy around the edges. I don't know what Brad has planned for himself, or for us. Last weekend we went to the Oklahoma History Museum. Take a look at photos from our Day In History at Brad's blog.

So what do you have planned for today, or this weekend?

Barbie - Perfect name for a Pug! If we get more, we'd like to name them Hoover, Dyson and Kirby. LOL Because as you know, Pugs are part vacuum.

Hey Karla...you see I knew you had something to write about ;-) The phone looks great, hopefully mine will be here Monday.

Well today I went shopping with a girlfriend, first time in ages and oh boy did we have fun. I also got into jeans a size smaller and between we got some great bargains. I am now hanging on for Penn Sq next week :-)

This weekend there is another Formula One Gran Prix, so our weekend kind of revolves around that! But we are also going to a home show tomorrow and grocery shopping.

Next w/end will be much more exciting!

Oh btw..I checked out the picture thing and I think it was due to the size of the original?

Wow, from "nothing to say" to a very nice long blog there :)

This weekend . . . we're all pitching in around here to clean house. . . inside and outside!! Yeah, the girls can help too, they live here. They were not too happy when hubs and I told them of our exciting planned weekend. LOL.

Blessings,

Sher

Chellie - isn't it great? And about Les Mis - definitely a MUST see! I know the Metro Library system has the Movie version and several cds of music, but I'm not sure about the on broadway version. If you can find it, watch it! It was great.

Sarah - so glad you had fun shopping! We are all looking forward to Saturday as well! Can't wait to meet you! And thanks for the inspiration.

Sher - oh how fun! I agree that those who live in the house have a duty to help. Our girls pitch in around here a lot as well. I couldn't do it without them. :)

You know, I would have thought you would have gotten the "Bookstore" theme for your phone...

Brad - actually it was a hard choice between the Monet and the Bookstore. I just had to go with the Monet this time.
