It's So Exhausting Being Fabulous!

On Saturday, I abandoned my family...to spend the entire day at the spa. In February, Brad had presented me with an incredible birthday gift of a gift card to my favorite spa, with enough on it to do an entire Total Body & Soul Makeover. Because of all that it involved, I had to wait until this past Saturday to enjoy it, but it was so worth the wait.

I was pampered from head to toe. I started out at 9am with an hour-long facial. It was so soothing! She also did a hand, neck and arm massage. I then moved on to a full-body massage followed by a Hawaiian body polish, which is a scrub-down with a wonderfully tropical-smelling salt scrub. After the scrub, it was back to the locker room to shower (the girl started the shower for me while I was putting my robe on in the massage room) and back into my regular clothes. Next came a pedicure, followed by a manicure. I flip-flopped my way to a back room where my lunch was awaiting - a lovely croissant turkey club sandwich and fresh fruit along with a glass of water and blush wine. So relaxing! I waited for about 30-45 minutes and then was led on to have my hair done. I had already decided that I would let the hairstylist do whatever she wanted to do, within reason, of course. She got really excited about that opportunity and decided to give me highlights and lowlights to make my blonde hair brighter. I've never colored my hair before - ever. I wasn't nervous about it but was a little surprised that I went lighter as opposed to darker. The cut is shorter than I had before, with sweet bangs across my forehead and straightened. The entire process, from color to cut to straightening actually makes my thin, fine hair look thicker. After the cut it was off to get makeup done. The girl who did my makeup, at 6pm, was the same girl who had done my facial that morning. I was her first and last appointment of the day.

I was a little nervous about whether Brad would like my hair but he did like it. I got a lot of compliments on it at church. One lady thought I was a visitor until she saw the front of my face. Another lady said it makes me look about 27 - 10 years younger than I am. I think they were both exaggerating, but it sure boosted my self-confidence and made me feel better about the hairdo!

I know you want to see photos but I have to wait until Brad shows me the photos he took of me Saturday evening.

I can tell you one thing for sure, it was worth all of the pampering but it really was exhausting to become so fabulous! I couldn't do it more than once or twice a year, that's for sure! LOL

What fun! Can't wait to see the photos. Were you relaxed and enjoying it? I'm afraid I would have been thinking of the dishes I left on the counter, or all the laundry I had to do. lol!

How special a treat was that...Brad is one very thoughtful hubby!

It sure was a full day of pampering for you and how nice to receive the gracious compliments of your fellow worshipers.
